When the performers of Cargo Theater, Teatro Yuyachkani and Elgalpon.espacio began researching this project, they made a surprising discovery on the roof of an interviewee’s home in Lima: here an extensive archive had been created and cared for over decades. The stories behind its unusual exhibits, preserved on overflowing shelves, are all linked by the same question: What are the consequences of anthropogenic interference with the cycles of this planet? Intercambios guides the audience through the reconstructed archive of German-Peruvian Soledad Bauer, who describes herself as a “collector of things that are dying out.” A journey through different microcosms in which insects write manifestos and plants call on those who see them to take action.
